Ukraine-EU-Russia gas talks kick off in Berlin

The European Commission praises the beginning of the trilateral Ukraine-EU-Russia talks on the terms of Russian gas supplies.

"I hope today we will have a good opportunity for moving forward and will be able to clearly define the priorities of our talks and the needed solution," European Commission Vice-President for the Energy Union Maros Sefcovic said, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Sefcovic noted that the Berlin round of talks would be followed by the expert discussion in September to reach the political level of the negotiation process in autumn.

"I am convinced that we have started well and hope for a positive result in the continuation of the talks," the European Commission Vice-President said.

The Ukrainian delegation at the talks is led by Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin.
