Poroshenko hopes to get first tranche of EU macro-financial assistance in autumn

President Petro Poroshenko hopes that Ukraine will receive the first tranche of a new program of the EU’s macro-financial assistance worth 1 billion euros in this autumn.

"I welcomed the EU decision to provide Ukraine with the 4th Macrofinancial Assistance Program of EUR 1 billion. We are committed to sign Memorandum of Understanding in September with a view to receiving first tranche already this autumn," Poroshenko wrote on Twitter.

As Ukrinform reported, on Monday, July 9, a decision of the European Union on providing Ukraine with 1 billion euros in loans of macro-financial assistance came into effect.

The aim of the assistance is to support macro-financial stability and the progress of reforms in Ukraine.

Then, under the procedure, the Government of Ukraine and the European Commission will sign a memorandum of understanding on the terms of granting loans of macro-finance assistance. The reached agreements have yet to be ratified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
