Local authorities spend only 3% of their budgets on preparation for winter – Zubko

Local governments spend only 3% of their development budgets on preparation for the next heating season.

Vice Prime Minister – Minister for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Hennadiy Zubko stated this during a video conference dedicated to preparations for a new heating season, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"At the same time, we see that local authorities are spending only 3% of their development budgets on the preparation of infrastructure for winter. How can we properly prepare for the heating season using only 3%?" he said.

According to Zubko, in the context of the financial decentralization of local self-government there is an opportunity to prepare for the 2018/2019 heating season in time and properly.

Last year the revenues of local budgets amounted to UAH 192 billion, Zubko said.

"As of June 1, the local budgets amounted to UAH 89 billion, whereas on the same day in 2017 they amounted to UAH 72 billion," the vice-premier added.
