NABU: Every third corruption case stalls in Ukrainian courts

To date, the detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) have completed the pre-trial investigation of 140 proceedings, and the prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) have sent the indictments to the courts.

However, 47 cases are not considered by the court as the preparatory meetings have not taken place so far.

"The verdicts were announced only in 32 cases, which have been investigated by NABU and SAPO, but most of them concern the admission of guilt by marginal participants in corruption schemes. The guilty verdicts may give grounds for the return of funds and property, which were seized at the stage of pre-trial investigation, to the state's budget," the NABU press service reports.
