Budgets of united territorial communities doubled due to decentralization reform – Zubko

Since the beginning of the decentralization reform, the local budgets of Ukraine’s united territorial communities have doubled.

Vice Prime Minister - Minister for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Hennadiy Zubko said this at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Policy, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"In 2014, when the decentralization reform was launched, the local budgets made only 40-67 billion of the development budget, and this was practically with those subventions that came in. Now we have 150 billion. The support and budgeting have almost doubled since 2015. If we talk about the united communities, then they also doubled the local budgets," he said.

The vice premier stressed that the financial decentralization had transferred 51% of the consolidated budget of Ukraine to the regions. "This is one of the important steps that was created in 2015. Today we have a concrete result," he said.
