Markarova's appointment to promote cooperation between Rada and Finance Ministry - Groysman

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said that Oksana Markarova's appointment as acting finance minister will facilitate the establishment of communication with the Verkhovna Rada.

He said this in his closing remarks during the Government Question Hour on Friday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The work of the Finance Ministry with the parliamentary corps will be fully established," Groysman said.

At the same time, he thanked the parliament for supporting on Thursday his motion regarding Oleksandr Danyliuk's dismissal as Ukraine's finance minister.

"Yesterday's vote for dismissal of the finance minister has not weakened the government team in any way. Quite the contrary, it has strengthened the government team in this important financial bloc," Groysman said.

He recalled that today he introduced Markarova to the staff of the Finance Ministry and described her as a competent specialist.

As reported, on Thursday, June 7, the Verkhovna Rada supported the government's draft resolution on Danyliuk's dismissal as finance minister. Some 254 MPs voted for a respective decision.

First Deputy Finance Minister Oksana Markarova was entrusted with fulfilling the finance minister's duties. A respective decision was unanimously approved at a special government meeting.
