Ukraine, Romania agree to launch Suceava-Chernivtsi train

Ukraine and Romania have agreed to launch a train between the Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi and the Romanian city of Suceava from January 1, 2019.

The agreement was reached at a meeting of the working group on transport and infrastructure between Ukraine and Romania, the Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry reports.

“As for railway passenger transportation, the parties agreed on the introduction of two pairs of trains (4 trains) from January 1, 2019, which will connect Suceava (Romania) and Chernivtsi (Ukraine), with a transfer at the Vadul-Siret station," reads the report.

In addition, the parties agreed on the need to organize piggyback transportation of the RO-LA type in the territories of Ukraine and Romania and to further develop it.

As for road transport, the parties agreed to increase the total quota of permits for international road transport for 2018-2019. In the near future, Ukrainian carriers will additionally receive 4,500 transit and 1,000 bilateral permits, according to the ministry's press service.
