EP committee supports allocation of EUR 1 bln in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine

The European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs has voted on the draft resolution on granting Ukraine a new program of macro-financial assistance of up to EUR 1 billion.

However, the final decision is to be taken by the Committee on International Trade before putting the document to a plenary vote, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The main requirements of the European Parliament for launching a new macro-financial assistance program is tackling corruption in Ukraine, ensuring the independence of judges, formation of the Central Election Commission from representatives of the political forces represented in the Verkhovna Rada.

As reported, in early March, the European Commission approved and submitted a proposal to launch a new (fourth) program of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of up to EUR 1 billion for the purpose of economic stabilization and conduct of structural reforms.
