Health Ministry to purchase medicines for almost UAH 6 billion

Ukraine’s Health Ministry has signed treaties with international organizations that purchase medicines and medical equipment in the amount of UAH 5.9 billion.

Acting Health Minister Ulana Suprun said this at a briefing on the occasion of the signing of the contracts, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"We continue to cooperate with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UNICEF and the British agency Crown Agents. These organizations have international experience in procurement. We have been cooperating with them for four years," Suprun said.

This year, the purchases will be carried out in 40 directions of the state program of treatment.

She noted that the signing of the procurement contracts was held this year much earlier - in April that allowed planning the supply of drugs in accordance with the needs evenly throughout the year. She stressed that purchases through international organizations in 2016 saved up to 40% of the funds allocated for these purposes. And this was confirmed by the relevant conclusions of the Audit Chamber.
