Ukraine-EU pleased with bilateral trade growth rate – Mykolska

The implementation of the Ukraine-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) shows positive trade growth tendencies, in particular due to its further liberalization.

First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade - Trade Representative of Ukraine Natalia Mykolska stated this following a meeting with EU Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström on Monday, own Ukrinform correspondent in Brussels reports.

"Ukraine and the European Union are pleased with the growth rate of bilateral trade. The EU market is becoming the main market for a growing number of Ukrainian goods. We see that this has already become a trend," Mykolska noted.

She recalled that the figure grew by 27% in the first quarter of 2018.

"The positive growth also shows that the agreement is aimed at the liberalization of free trade," said Mykolska.

Among the reasons for the bilateral trade growth, she also noted the mutual elimination of duties, stipulated in the agreement.
