Ukraine’s Infrastructure Ministry announces launch of low-cost train to Riga

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine intends to launch in the near future a train of "four capitals", which will run from Kyiv to Riga via Minsk and Vilnius.

“The ‘train of four capitals’ is to be launched. The Infrastructure Ministry’s tariff council approved the amendments to the tariffs for international carriage of passengers and luggage by rail. Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelian signed the corresponding order, which was sent to the Justice Ministry for state registration," Deputy Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Yuri Lavreniuk posted on Facebook.

He also noted that Ukrzaliznytsia had already purchased 28 new passenger coaches from the Kriukivsky Railcar Building Plant for a new Kyiv-Minsk-Vilnius-Riga route.

A ticket for a compartment coach seat to Riga will cost about UAH 1,855 (EUR 59), the official noted.
