Gazprom refuses to resume gas supplies to Ukraine and pay $2.6 bln in favor of Naftogaz

Russia's Gazprom refuses to resume gas supplies to Ukraine in accordance with a decision of the Stockholm Arbitration and to pay $2.6 billion in favor of Ukraine’s Naftogaz.

Spokesperson of Naftogaz Ukrainy Olena Osmolovska said this to reporters.

"NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy and Russian Gazprom met last week to discuss the next steps after the decisions of the Stockholm Arbitration on two large cases. At the meeting, Gazprom said that the Russian gas monopoly refused to resume gas supplies to Ukraine and refused to confirm that it would pay $2.6 billion," Naftogaz said.

At the same time, Gazprom proposed to amend the contracts or to terminate the contracts in order not to comply with the decisions of the Tribunal.

"Both proposals directly contradict the decisions made by the Stockholm Tribunal. Naftogaz considers this position unacceptable and rejected the proposals of Gazprom to this effect," Naftogaz Ukrainy added.
