First Ryanair flights in Ukraine expected in October - Poroshenko

Irish low-cost airline Ryanair will perform first flights in Ukraine in October this year.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said this at a press conference on the launch of Ryanair services in Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"It takes some time, about half a year, to launch the first flight. We expect the first flights tentatively in October," he said.

According to Poroshenko, this is due to the fact that it is necessary to buy airplanes for Ukraine and create all necessary infrastructure and services.

At the same time, the president said that he had asked Ryanair to analyze and create competitive opportunities for passenger transportation within the country and assured that he had received "positive and encouraging feedback."

The head of state also emphasized that cargo transportation was not the only thing discussed in cooperation with Ryanair. In particular, he said that negotiations were underway on the possibility of creating Ryanair's IT center in Ukraine and the placement of the company's maintenance center.
