Ukraine, EU discuss details of next tranche of EU’s macro-financial assistance

Kyiv and Brussels discuss the details and conditions for granting Ukraine the next package of macro-financial assistance.

Ukrinform learnt this from Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleksandr Sayenko, who took part in the events within the framework of the Ukrainian Week in Berlin and held a number of meetings with German politicians.

"The EU has announced allocation of new macro-financial assistance worth EUR 1 billion. Now we are discussing the indicators, which should be achieved, the needed roadmap to receive this assistance, the timeline and stages," Sayenko said.

He is convinced that the goals and tasks put forward by the European side will be acceptable.

The EU’s macro-financial aid package to Ukraine totaling EUR 1.8 billion was approved as early as 2015. Two tranches were allocated, while the third was suspended as Kyiv did not fulfill certain conditions of Brussels. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini announced the intention to grant Ukraine another EUR1 billion in Kyiv on March 12.
