Ukraine, Moldova discuss priorities for economic and energy cooperation

The economic and energy security remains priority areas for cooperation between Moldova and Ukraine in 2018.

The Economy and Infrastructure Ministry of Moldova reported this following a meeting of Minister Chiril Gaburici with Ukraine’s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Ivan Hnatyshyn, own Ukrinform correspondent in Moldova reports.

“The implementation of the Agreement on the Conditions for the Future Interconnection of the power systems of Ukraine and Moldova with ENTSO-E remains priority issues on the agenda of bilateral relations, as well as the holding of the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Ukraine-Moldova Commission on trade-economic cooperation," said Gaburici.

Gaburici reaffirmed Moldova's openness to constructive dialogue and interaction with Ukraine so that to ensure economic and energy security of the two countries.

Ambassador Ivan Hnatyshyn, in turn, noted that "Ukraine unconditionally supports the implementation of all joint projects that contribute to the strengthening of regional security."

The diplomat also stressed that Ukraine is interested in further cooperation in the field of joint control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border.

According to the Economy and Infrastructure Ministry of Moldova, due to the implementation of the Roadmap for Trade and Economic Cooperation, the volume of bilateral trade between Ukraine and Moldova grew by 33% in 2017 from 2016.
