Finland ready to give Ukraine EUR 50 mln for education and energy projects

Finland is ready to allocate Ukraine EUR 50 million for the implementation of projects in education and renewable energy sectors.

Foreign Minister of the Republic of Finland Timo Soini said this at a joint briefing with Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Finland will continue to increase its support to Ukraine, which has reached EUR 34 million since the start of the conflict in the east... We are ready to provide EUR 50 million for new projects in the field of education and renewable energy," Soini said.

The minister recalled that on Monday he signed a bilateral agreement with Ukrainian Minister of Education and Science Liliya Hrynevych on the implementation of the project "Finnish support for the reform of the Ukrainian school."

In addition, Finland intends to launch an energy efficiency fund in Ukraine, which will provide expert support to Ukrainian experts in this sector, he said.

Soini also noted Ukraine's progress in implementing reforms under difficult conditions, calling on Ukraine to continue reforms, in particular, in the field of fight against corruption.
