European Commission confirms: Ukraine flawlessly meets its transit obligations

Ukraine flawlessly meets its obligations regarding the supply of Russian gas through its territory to the territory of the European Union.

European Commission spokeswoman Anna-Kaisa Itkonen announced this on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports from Brussels.

"Based on the available information, the gas supply is currently normal and stable. We monitor the situation," the representative of the European Commission said.

She stressed that the Government of Ukraine had informed the European Commission about the Gazprom’s interruption of gas supplies through the territory of Ukraine to the EU countries and a possible emergency situation in this regard.

"We took seriously this concern of the Ukrainian side. We are ready to cooperate with the Ukrainian leadership," the representative of the European Commission noted.

Itkonen added that the Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of Energy Union Maros Sefcovic expressed willingness to mediate in holding the trilateral talks between the EU, Ukraine and Russia on Russian gas supplies through Ukrainian territory to the EU.
