Local budgets grow to UAH 231 billion – PM Groysman

A decentralization reform started in 2014 has allowed to increase local budgets from UAH 68 billion to UAH 231 billion over the past four years.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said this on the air of Ukrainske Radio station [Ukrainian Radio], the Governmental portal informs.

"In 2014, at the beginning of the reform, the local budgets amounted to UAH 68 billion. In 2018, they increased up to UAH 231 billion. We transferred large funds to the regions, and now it is necessary to effectively use the resources. Local leaders should be fully accountable to people for every hryvnia they spend," Groysman said.

The head of the government stressed that the idea of decentralization and creation of united territorial communities fully justified itself. The regions have enough resources that can and should be spent in favor of citizens.
