Ukroboronprom ready to join Hyperloop project

The Ukroboronprom State Concern, together with other leading scientific and production associations and enterprises, has joined the initiative of the Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry for the development of the newest transport technologies in Ukraine, first and foremost, the Hyperloop high-speed transport system, the concern's press service has reported.

"Ukroboronprom is ready to work on the project at each of the stages. The concern has more than 30 research centers. Some of them have the technology and scientific expertise necessary for the implementation of this project. At the same time, dozens of other production enterprises of the concern, as part of additional loading of production facilities after the execution of work under the state defense order, can join the production of final products and individual units," the concern's press service quoted Director General of Ukroboronprom Pavlo Bukin as saying.

In addition to Ukroboronprom, this project will be joined by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Octagonal Corporation, Pivdenny Machine-Building Plant (PJSC Pivdenmash), PJSC Kakhovka Electric Welding Equipment Plant, Interpipe Ukraine, Unit.City, Dnipro Development Agency, the Ukrainian Institute for the Future, and Innovations Development Platform.

As reported, the construction of a test site for the Hyperloop vacuum train in Ukraine will begin in 2019. According to preliminary estimates, the cost of an infrastructure project without rolling stock will amount to more than $3 billion.

The Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry predicted that the project in Ukraine could be implemented for three to five years.
