Hyperloop could appear in Ukraine in 3-5 years

Construction of Hyperloop test site in Ukraine will begin in 2019.

Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said this at a press conference on February 22, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"An expert estimation of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine should be ready this year. Next year we will start construction of a test site in Dnipro city," the minister said.

According to Omelyan, after the first two stages, "we will start the industrial construction. This is the third stage."

The minister stressed that private investors should be involved in the construction of Hyperloop.

It is still undecided what kind of transportations – cargo or passenger – will be carried out by a new mode of transport.

He added that according to preliminary estimates, the cost of an infrastructure project without rolling stock will total more than $3 billion.

The Infrastructure Ministry expects the project implementation in Ukraine to last from three to five years.
