Nearly 25% of Ukrainians get salary of over UAH 10,000 - statistics
Some 6.6% of full-time employees received the minimum wage in Ukraine in December 2017, whereas 23.5% of employees received more than UAH 10,000, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
"In December 2017, the minimum wage was received by 6.6% of full-time employees, which was 3.7 percentage points less than in March 2017. The share of those earning from UAH 3,200 to UAH 6,000 was 43.8%, over UAH 6,000 - 49.6%, while the salary of 23.5% of full-time employees exceeded UAH 10,000," reads the report.
According to the service, the largest share of employees who received the minimum wage in December 2017 was recorded in Chernihiv, Luhansk and Sumy regions - 10.7%, 9.8% and 9.7% respectively. At the same time, only 3.2% of full-time employees in Kyiv received the minimum wage.
The highest percentage of full-time employees with wages exceeding UAH 10,000 was recorded in the city of Kyiv - 39.4% (including 23% receiving over UAH 15,000), Donetsk region - 28.8%, and Mykolaiv region - 27.6%. At the same time, the smallest share of full-time employees with a salary of more than UAH 10,000 was recorded in Chernihiv region - 14.5%, Kirovohrad region - 14.7%, and Ternopil region - 15.9%.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers will consider increasing the minimum wage to UAH 4,200 after the first quarter of 2018.
On January 1, 2018, the living wage in Ukraine was set at UAH 1,700 and the minimum wage at UAH 3,723.
