Experts of the Odesa Regional State Administration and consultants of the USAID Municipal Energy Reform Project in Ukraine have presented the first in Ukraine strategy for alternative energy development for 2018-2022, which also envisages improving energy efficiency in various sectors of the economy, the press service of Odesa Regional State Administration reports.

"Experts of the State Administration together with consultants of the USAID Municipal Energy Reform Project in Ukraine have created a step-by-step strategy for the distribution of alternative energy. As expected, due to the implementation of the energy plan, residents of the region will be able to save about UAH 2.6 billion when paying utility bills until 2022," the press service reported, referring to Armen Martyrosian, the head of the administration’s regional department.

According to Martyrosian, the approved energy development strategy combines "national strategic documents with previously developed plans for sustainable development of the cities of Izmail, Odesa, Balta, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Bolhrad, Reni, Chornomorsk, and Yuzhnyi. Its implementation will save energy by introducing alternative types of energy and fuel systems. "

According to experts, Odesa region now ranks first in Ukraine in terms of energy efficiency.
