Ukraine-EU agricultural products turnover grew by 31% in 2017

The foreign trade turnover of agricultural and food products between Ukraine and the countries of the European Union increased by 30.8%, or $1.9 billion, by the end of 2017 and totaled $8.1 billion.

"For several years now, the EU countries have taken the second place in the regional structure of Ukraine’s agricultural and food exports. I am very glad to mention that by the end of 2017, the exports of our agricultural and food products to European countries grew by 37.1%, or almost $1.6 billion, up to $5.8 billion. Personally for me, these figures mean that the EU-Ukraine free trade area agreement works effectively and gives its results for our agricultural sector. In addition, the growth in exports to the EU countries is a sign of the successful reorientation of most of our agricultural exporters to new markets after they lost the Russian market," Deputy Agrarian Policy and Food Minister of Ukraine on European Integration Olga Trofimtseva official said.

According to her, the main products of Ukrainian agricultural exports to the EU market in 2017 were cereals ($1.7 billion), oil ($1.4 billion) and oil seeds ($1.1 billion).
