Poroshenko, Berset discuss return of illegally withdrawn assets to Ukraine

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko discussed with President of Switzerland Alain Berset the interaction of the competent authorities of the two states on the return of frozen assets that had been illegally withdrawn by former Ukrainian officials.

This is reported by the press service of the Head of State following the meeting of the leaders within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

"The interlocutors emphasized the importance of intensifying interaction of the competent authorities of the two states on the return of frozen assets that had been illegally withdrawn by former Ukrainian officials," the statement reads.

Poroshenko expressed gratitude for the important role of Switzerland in the mobilization of humanitarian efforts aimed to overcome the consequences of the Russian aggression in Donbas. Special attention was paid to the dynamic development of bilateral cooperation, which is confirmed by the growth of bilateral trade and the increase of Swiss investments in the Ukrainian economy.

The President noted the positive effect from the introduction of the visa-free regime for Ukrainians by Switzerland in 2017 in terms of strengthening business and cultural contacts between the two countries.
