EU assesses possibility of granting Ukraine new tranche of macro-financial assistance – Mingarelli

The European Union assesses the possibility of providing Ukraine with new tranche of macro-financial assistance.

Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli said this on the air of the Ukrainian Radio, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“At the Eastern Partnership Summit in November, President Poroshenko asked European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker whether the EU could provide new macro-financial assistance to Ukraine, and Mr. Junker told his services to assess the amount of assistance that Ukraine needs and the possibility of providing such new macro-financial assistance,” he said.

According to him, the European Commission "now cannot" provide a EUR 600 million tranche of macro-financial assistance because of Ukraine's failure to comply with 4 out of 21 conditions for providing such assistance.

As reported, Head of the Support Group for Ukraine Peter Wagner will arrive in Kyiv to discuss further cooperation with Ukraine.
