Ukraine's international reserves increased by 21% for past year - NBU

Over the past year, Ukraine's international reserves increased by 21%, and as of January 1, 2018, they amounted to more than UAH 18.8 billion.

This is reported by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

"As of January 1, 2018, the international reserves of Ukraine amounted to USD 18.808,45 million (in equivalent), according to preliminary data. Over the past year, they grew by 21% mainly due to the receipt of funds from the International Monetary Fund at the level of about USD 1 billion, as well as the purchase of USD 1.3 billion by the National Bank when conducting currency interventions against the backdrop of a favorable situation on the foreign exchange market," reads a statement.

As noted, the level of Ukraine's international reserves by the end of 2017 exceeded the forecast of the National Bank (USD 18.6 billion in equivalent, according to the inflation report for October 2017).
