President Poroshenko: Remains of gas in underground storage facilities are largest for past four years

Ukraine confidently enters the year 2018 thanks to the change in the energy strategy, and the remains of gas in the underground storage facilities of Naftogaz are now the largest for the past four years.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this during a meeting with CEO of Naftogaz of Ukraine Andriy Kobolev.

"Fortunately, today we confidently enter the year 2018 after the energy strategy has been changed," Poroshenko said.

The President noted that Ukraine had got rid of gas dependence on Gazprom thanks to the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration, and the amount of gas in the underground storage facilities of Naftogaz – more than 15 billion cubic meters – was one of the largest remains with which Ukraine entered the new year over the past four years.

According to the President, the introduction of market tariffs and fair gas prices as well as of subsidy systems are the components of the energy security of the state, thanks to which Ukraine gained the real energy independence.
