Ukraine to find ways to influence foreign companies that trade in annexed Crimea – Klimkin

Ukraine will exert influence both politically and legally on the companies that do not adhere to the sanctions regime regarding the annexed Crimea.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said this during a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel in Kyiv on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We have done a lot to ensure that Russian fraud as in the case with supply of Siemens turbines would never happen again in the occupied Crimea. I believe that German and other business learnt lesson from this situation. And now there are companies like Volkswagen or Adidas that allow their retailers to consider Crimea as the territory of Russia. We will certainly exert influence on them by political and legal means," Klimkin stressed.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine announced its intention to check information on the possible work of the German companies DHL Express, Adidas and Puma in the annexed Crimea.

In turn, the Volkswagen Group assured that they adhered to the current sanctions regime on the peninsula.
