Ukraine reduces gas consumption by over 7 billion cubic meters

Over the two past heating seasons, Ukraine reduced gas consumption by 7.2 billion cubic meters, while EUR 440 million was invested in new boiler houses that produce heat without gas.

Chairman of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Serhiy Savchuk said this at the press conference, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The gas consumption was reduced by 7.2 billion cubic meters in such categories of consumers as heating utilities, state-financed institution and the population over the two past heating seasons due to administrative and stimulating measures. In addition, EUR 440 million was invested in new boiler houses, which allowed building 2,000 MW capacities," Savchuk noted.

According to him, these indicators do not take into account Crimea and the temporarily occupied territories.
