Poroshenko, GE Transportation CEO discuss modernization of Ukrainian railways

President Petro Poroshenko and President and Chief Executive Officer of General Electric Transportation Rafael Santana discussed prospects for strategic cooperation in modernization of the Ukrainian railways.

The president’s press service reported this on Monday evening.

“The parties expressed resolute interest in strengthening effective cooperation between PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia and General Electric Transportation, primarily in updating the fleet of locomotives in order to promote the development and modernization of the Ukrainian railways in line with the best international standards,” reads a report.

President Poroshenko also stated about the readiness to promote mutually beneficial cooperation with GE Transportation, which is aimed at strengthen transport, transit and export potential of Ukraine.

In addition, the parties stressed that the existing positive climate in the political relations between the two countries, as well as the progress in reforms create a favorable basis for the active involvement of leading American companies in Ukraine.
