Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister: About UAH 2 bln to be allocated for road safety in 2018

The Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine will next year receive additional UAH 400 million from the European Union to improve safety on Ukrainian roads. Taking into account the funds received from the launch of the Road Fund, a total of UAH 1.9 billion will be allocated for security measures.

Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelian said this at the briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We plan to spend a new tranche of UAH 400 million, received by the Ministry, on qualitatively new measures, namely road safety, in 2018. The European Union will provide these funds to reduce the traffic-related death rate," the minister said.

Thus, according to the official, a total of UAH 1.9 billion will be allocated for road safety in Ukraine next year.
