IMF Resident Representative: Absence of land market hinders development of Ukraine

The absence of a regulated and transparent land market does not allow Ukraine to develop properly and prevents investment in the country.

IMF Resident Representative for Ukraine Goesta Ljungman said this at the conference devoted to land reform in Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The absence of a land market does not promote economic development, does not allow investment to enter the country," Ljungman said.

The Resident Representative noted that the IMF support program aimed to assist Ukraine in conducting reforms and achieving structural changes in the economy.

The moratorium on the sale of agricultural land operates in Ukraine until the law on land circulation is adopted. The abolition of the moratorium is one of the requirements of the International Monetary Fund for Ukraine.
