EU delays next tranche of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine

The European Union has made decision on launching a new program of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in 2018. At the same time, this year's planned third tranche of EUR 600 million will not be provided as Kyiv failed to fulfill the needed conditions.

The European Commission has approved the relevant decision on Friday, a Brussels-based Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The European Commission is ready to discuss the next macro-financial assistance to Ukraine subject to further reforms," the EU's governing body said.

As the EU reminded, the program of macro-financial assistance to Kyiv at the current stage totals EUR 12.8 billion. However, a third tranche of EUR 600 million was blocked by the EU due to Ukraine's failure to fulfill certain conditions, including a ban on timber exports.
