Trade turnover between Ukraine and Moldova has grown by 30% in 2017

Economic relations between Ukraine and Moldova have been developing dynamically. The trade turnover between the countries has increased by 30% this year.

Deputy chairman of the “Ukrainian Prism” foreign policy council Serhiy Herasymchuk announced this during presentation of the research "Ukraine-Moldova: New Challenges and New Opportunities in Bilateral Relations" at the Ukrinform news agency.

"Ukraine is one of the main trade and economic partners of the Republic of Moldova. Ukraine is among ten largest trading partners of Moldova. According to the data released by Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip as of October 2017, the trade turnover between the countries increased by more than 30% compared to the same period last year," Herasymchuk said.

According to him, together with other GUAM partners – Azerbaijan and Georgia – Ukraine and Moldova reached an agreement on establishment of the free trade area between the GUAM member states.

According to the expert, this will give an additional impetus to trade and economic cooperation and will enhance the GUAM’s transportation capacities.

As Herasymchuk stated, Ukraine and Moldova have an ambitious goal in the energy sector to elaborate and implement a joint action plan to integrate the energy systems of Ukraine and Moldova into the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity.
