‘New Silk Road’: Groysman suggests involving Ukrainian companies

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman declares the need to involve Ukrainian companies in the infrastructure projects of the New Silk Road.

Groysman said this during his meeting with Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili during a visit to Tbilisi, the Ukrainian Government portal reports.

In particular, Groysman suggested that the Georgian side should think over the possibilities of involving the Ukrainian companies in implementation of the infrastructure projects within the framework of the New Silk Road project.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed that the alliance of geographical and transport opportunities of Kyiv and Tbilisi can and should become an important component of the "New Silk Road" international initiative.

The head of the Georgian government agreed with this. "The ‘New Silk Road’ is impossible without Ukraine. You have access to the European Union, and we have a duty-free trade regime with China," he said.

"We have preliminary agreements on the establishment of joint transport structures and tariff policy. We should accelerate this process, and I believe that our talks will give an additional impetus to it," Groysman stressed.

Significant attention was paid to bilateral cooperation both at the level of joint business projects and exchange of reform experience. As Groysman noted, Kyiv is interested in Tbilisi's experience in tackling corruption, formation of the land market and large-scale privatization.
