Ukraine to become international gas hub for European consumers

Ukraine will become in the long term an international East European gas hub.

Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion said this at the Cabinet’s meeting, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The promising gas sector, taking into account the needs of our neighbors, European countries, has the following features: unlimited gas exports and imports, transportation of gas for the needs of EU consumers through Ukrainian gas transportation system, entry point for Russian gas on the eastern border of Ukraine, usage of underground storage facilities by both Ukrainian and European companies, developed infrastructure for gas flow between Ukraine and the EU," Kistion said.

He added that Ukraine aimed to create an international East European gas hub.

"The creation of an international gas hub opens extraordinary prospects for Ukraine until 2035. Ukraine has unique opportunities for storing natural gas in its facilities, which no other European countries have," the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine added.
