Czech Republic interested in enhancing agricultural trade with Ukraine

The Czech Republic is ready to enhance cooperation with Ukraine in the agrarian sector, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Czech Republic Jirí Šír has said.

"The Czech Republic is interested in increasing bilateral trade with Ukraine in the agricultural sector and is ready to consider certain proposals for each direction of cooperation. In order to establish closer contacts between the business of Ukraine and the Czech Republic, a business forum is planned to be held in Kyiv in February 2018. Much attention during the forum will be paid to business in the agrarian and food sectors," Jirí Šír said at a meeting with Deputy Agrarian Policy and Food Minister of Ukraine, Olha Trofimtseva, and Chairman of the State Service on Food Safety and Consumers Protection, Volodymyr Lapa, the Agrarian Policy Ministry reports.

Olha Trofimtseva, in her turn, stressed that Ukraine is interested in the use of projects successfully implemented in the Czech Republic, in particular regarding the forestry reform, management and control system in organic farming, as well as in the veterinary and phytosanitary sphere.

Among the main issues discussed during the meeting were the issues of further bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector between Ukraine and the Czech Republic and the situation and ways to combat ASF.

According to statistics provided by the ministry, in January-September of 2017, exports of Ukrainian agrarian products to the Czech Republic totaled $18.577 million, imports - $18.5 million

As Ukrinform earlier reported, an international conference is held in the Czech Republic on November 8-9, the Ukrainian delegation is among participants.
