Government should double pace of economic growth - PM Groysman

Ukraine's economic growth will exceed 3% next year, but the government's task is to ensure at least 5-7% growth, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said.

He stated this at a government meeting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Yesterday we met with trade unions, the Federation of Employers of Ukraine. We talked about problems and the ways of solving them. We analyzed the situation. In many issues we are like-minded people. We talked about how to invest the national economy's achievements in the quality of life of Ukrainian citizens," Groysman said.

He stressed that Ukraine should take a decent place in the world and that Ukrainians should live with dignity.

"The key to these successes is a strong economy. A recovery began one-and-a-half years ago. Next year we will ensure economic growth of more than 3%, but this is not enough," Groysman said.

In his opinion, the government should ensure economic growth of at least 5-7%, as well as create conditions for the development of entrepreneurship.

"We need to create conditions under which entrepreneurs develop, work, and make our country more prosperous," he added.
