Ukraine imposes sanctions against 18 Russian companies

The Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine has introduced sanctions against 18 Russian companies following a request from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

The ministry approved relevant orders No.1582 and No.1583 on October 30, News 24 TV Channel reports.

According to the ministry, sanctions have been imposed "for carrying out actions that could damage the interests of Ukraine’s national economic security”.

Among the companies that are subject to sanctions are Russian companies operating in the food industry, coal industry, and construction materials industry.

The temporary suspension of foreign economic activities in Ukraine for the companies on the sanction list will come into force in 40 days - December 9, 2017.
