Export of Ukrainian meat products for 9 months increased almost 1.5 times - Institute of Agrarian Economics

In January-September of 2017, the volume of exports of Ukrainian meat products increased by almost 1.5 times – from USD 271 million to USD 397 million, compared to the corresponding period of 2016.

Deputy Director of the National Research Center 'Institute of Agrarian Economics' Mykola Puhachov announced this.

According to him, there is a positive tendency of increase in volumes of export of meat and offal thanks to the ongoing wide geographic diversification and consolidation in new markets after the loss of the Russian market.

"In 2015 Russia was the main importer of Ukrainian meat and by-products, but in 2017 there were more supplies to the markets of Europe and Asia," he said.

For nine months of 2017, Egypt (17.1%), the Netherlands (14.3%), Iraq (8.8%), Belarus (8.4%) and Azerbaijan (7.6%) bought the most of all domestic meat products.

Hong Kong, Germany, Georgia and Kazakhstan are also among major importers.

For three quarters of 2017, the export to these countries made about 74% of the total value of Ukrainian meat sold abroad, Mykola Puhachov noted.
