Government budgets UAH 1 billion to finance Affordable Medicines program next year

The Government of Ukraine budgets UAH 1 billion to finance the Affordable Medicines program next year.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said this at the Cabinet’s meeting, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We budget UAH 1 billion to finance this program next year. The list of medicines will be expanded, and people will have more access to this system. However, I emphasize that it is necessary to change the healthcare system so that both those seeking the medical care and those working in medical facilities would feel a tangible improvement in quality," Groysman said.

He noted that the Affordable Medicines program had been launched in Ukraine six months ago.

"More than 6.5 million Ukrainian citizens have received prescriptions for free medicines, which means that people, who could not afford to buy them, got medicines free of charge from the state," the Prime Minister said.
