Infrastructure minister files lawsuit against UIA

Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelian has filed a lawsuit against Ukraine International Airlines (UIA).

He stated this at a press conference on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I have prepared a lawsuit to protect my honor and dignity. It has been submitted, and I hope it will be considered by the court as soon as possible. I think that manipulations taking place on the part of UIA are dishonorable and have nothing to do with fair competition. They will all attempts to disrupt the entry of low-cost airlines into the Ukrainian market so as to prevent Ukrainians from flying cheaply," Omelian said.

UIA initiated a series of lawsuits with the requirement to cancel Ryanair's contract with the Lviv airport and a ban on the ministry from assisting Ryanair in Ukraine.

The Infrastructure Ministry, in the person of Minister Omelian, in turn, said that he could send a counterclaim against Ukraine International Airlines so as to deprive the carrier of a position on the market.
