Verkhovna Rada committee supports decreasing authorized capital of banks to 200 mln

The Financial Policy and Banking Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supports an initiative to reduce the minimum amount of authorized capital of banks from UAH 500 million to UAH 200 million.

Serhiy Rybalka, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Financial Policy and Banking, wrote this on Facebook.

"The prospects for development of the banking system have been discussed today at a meeting with a large group of bankers in our financial parliamentary committee. The main decision is that we have agreed to submit a bill on reduction in the minimum amount of authorized capital of banks from UAH 500 million to UAH 200 million," Rybalka wrote.

He noted that the committee members and the bankers saw the possible risks of excessive growth of the share of foreign capital, including Russian, in the domestic banking system.
