Groysman: Ukraine to have new road strategy in 3-5 years

Ukraine is drawing up a new road strategy, and the situation with the modernization of the road economy in the country will change dramatically in the next three to five years, according to Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman.

He announced this while familiarizing himself with the course of repair work on the Dnipro-Zaporizhia highway, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"A new road strategy is being formed in Ukraine. I'm convinced that at such a pace the situation with the modernization of the road economy will change dramatically over the next three to five years. Ukrainians have the right to drive on good roads, and they have to drive on good roads," Groysman said.

He said that this year the financing of construction and repair of roads had been increased by several times, or more than a billion hryvnias. So now, "in fact, everything depends on how well the work is organized in the regions," he said.

Groysman stressed the need to concentrate more resources on the roads so as to start and complete repairs in one season, without leaving this work for subsequent periods.

He also noted the better quality of road repairs compared to last year.
