Ukraine stops power supply to occupied territories of Donetsk region

Ukraine has stopped power supplies to the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk region.

Interim director of Ukrenergo, Vsevolod Kovalchuk posted this on his Facebook page.

“At 00:00, July 26, 2017, the flow of electric power into the temporarily uncontrolled areas of Donetsk region was stopped,” Kovalchuk wrote.

According to him, the temporary occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions now do not consume electricity generated by power plants in the government-controlled part of Ukraine. The needs of the occupied territories for energy are covered by Starobeshivska and Zuyivska TPPs, other producers in the temporarily occupied territory and supplies from the Russian Federation that were excluded from the list of interstate lines. The power flows along those lines are not accounted for in the general system of power flows between Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus.
