FMO to provide $25 mln loan to Ukraine’s Astarta for energy efficiency program

The Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO) decided to provide a $25 million loan to agribusiness group Astarta to improve energy efficiency of the group’s sugar business, the Astarta press service reports.

“The funds will be used to build a wastewater treatment plant in Hlobynskyi industrial cluster of Astarta, consisting of sugar and soybeans processing plants, as well as a bioenergy complex. Through its capacity development program, which FMO manages on behalf of the Dutch government, FMO supported Astarta with a feasibility study of the wastewater treatment plant. Thanks to this project, the cluster will be able to reduce water consumption by 50% on average,” reads the report.

The funds will be also used to upgrade the equipment of sugar plants, which will allow them to reach a new level of productivity and energy efficiency.
