Ukraine needs to develop airports and air transport service – Groysman

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman instructs the Infrastructure Ministry to complete work on developing a strategy for air transportation and airports as soon as possible.

He said this during a meeting on the development of the air passenger transportation market with the participation of the key representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, the leaders of the country's largest airports, air carriers and experts, the Government’s portal reports.

"We need a professional and high-quality strategy for the development of air transportation, a strategy for the development of our airports. This is the first task for the Infrastructure Ministry. The strategy should be developed as soon as possible. The next thing is that we need to think over mechanisms for developing a competition in the transport market," Groysman said.

He has noted that local authorities should be also involved in the development of airports, as they have a corresponding financial resource that can be used as a result of the decentralization reform.

At the meeting, the parties agreed to prepare and discuss the strategy in September.
