Ukrenergo signs agreement on terms of accession to European energy system

The National Energy Company Ukrenergo at the General Assembly of the European Network of Transmission System Operators ENTSO-E on June 28 signed an agreement on the terms of Ukraine’s accession to the European energy system.

Head of Ukrenergo Vsevolod Kovalchuk posted this on his Facebook page.

“The agreement on the terms of accession was signed today [June 28] in Brussels during the General Assembly of the European Network of Transmission System Operators ENTSO-E… Several years of joint work of Government, the National Commission for State Energy and Public Utilities Regulation, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry, Ukrenergo and energy generating companies are ahead. The draft roadmap has been developed, all of the requirements for the modernization of our energy system are envisaged in the Agreement,” he wrote.

He also added that “accession together with the implementation of a new law on the electricity market will allow markets to be united with neighboring countries; it will create real competition, and it will defeat monopoly."
