City of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Vinnytsia and Chernivtsi regions have topped the rating of social and economic development of Ukrainian regions for 2016.

Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services Minister of Ukraine Hennady Zubko posted this on Facebook.

"City of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Vinnytsia and Chernivtsi regions have topped the rating of social and economic development of Ukrainian regions for 2016, which was announced by the Regional Development Ministry. We started to evaluate the social and economic development of the regions in 2015. Based on the statistics, the regions are assessed at 27 indicators in six directions every quarter and at 64 indicators in 12 directions every year," Zubko wrote.

According to the Vice Prime Minister, such an assessment is an element of the new system for monitoring the implementation of the state regional policy and determining the dynamics of changes. The rating indicators are the indicators of the effectiveness of managerial decisions at the central and local levels. The main goal is to determine the priorities and strategic planning for the development of the regions and increase their competitiveness on the basis of the rating evaluation.
