Number of millionaires in Ukraine fell by almost a quarter last year

In 2016, the number of millionaires in Ukraine fell by almost a quarter, while their total income grew.

The press service of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine posted this on its Facebook page.

"Over the past year, 3,504 people declared over UAH 1 million in their tax returns. Compared to 2015, the number of millionaires decreased by 24%, or by 1,180 people," the report says.

According to Acting Chairman of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine Myroslav Prodan, the total income of the Ukrainian millionaires increased by 13%, or by UAH 3.2 billion compared to last year.

"The overwhelming majority of citizens, who declared over UAH 1 million, live in Kyiv – 1,686 people. In addition, 287 millionaires live in Kharkiv region, 216 – in Dnipropetrovsk region, 211 – in Odesa region," Prodan noted.
